Collaboration in Vani isn't just about what we create. It’s also about how we interact while doing work.
There are moments during work that don’t need a new board or a detailed structure, like a quick decision, a short focused session, or a way to keep people engaged during longer discussions. These are small moments, but they affect how smoothly things move forward. Widgets are designed for exactly this layer of work.
What are widgets in Vani?
Widgets are simple tools you can add directly into your Space to support how work happens. They don’t change your workflow or replace your content. Instead, they sit alongside it and help you manage time, gather input, or make interactions more fluid within the same canvas.
Polls for quick team input
Polls are probably the most straightforward way to use widgets.
If you’re choosing between options, collecting feedback, or just trying to get a quick sense of what people think, a poll keeps it simple without turning everything into a long thread.
You’ll typically see this used when:
- Choosing between design options or campaign directions
- Finalizing content or decisions
- Gathering quick feedback during reviews or discussions
- Getting alignment before moving to the next step
- Or simply choosing the theme for your next office party!
It’s especially helpful in async scenarios. Instead of waiting for replies across comments or messages, you can collect responses in one place and move ahead with confidence.
Timers and stopwatches during sessions
Timers and stopwatches usually show up when people are actively working in the Space.
The timer is useful when you’re running something with a defined duration. For example:
- Timeboxing your brainstorming sessions
- Keeping team discussions within a set time
- During individual work where you want to keep things moving without constantly checking the clock
The stopwatch is more for tracking. You might use it when:
- Measuring how long a task or activity takes
- Understanding effort during planning or retrospectives
- Tracking time spent during focused work sessions
- Or even timing your planks!
They don’t interrupt the flow. They just add a layer of awareness to how time is being spent.
Dice when you want to keep things light
Not everything inside a Space is serious or structured. The dice widget is intentionally simple. You roll it and get a random number.
It works well in moments where:
- A quick decision doesn’t need overthinking.
- You want to break the monotony during longer sessions.
- You’re running light team activities or icebreakers.
It’s not a heavy feature, and it doesn’t try to be. It just fits into those small moments where a bit of fun and randomness helps.
How these show up in a Space
These tools don’t sit separately from your work; they show up right where things are happening.
- A poll next to a set of design options
- A timer running during a brainstorm
- A quick roll of the dice during a team activity
They’re small additions, but they blend naturally into the way people already use the Space.
If you haven’t explored widgets yet, try dropping one into your next session and see how it works. There’s no setup needed, so it blends naturally into what you’re already doing. Whether it’s a quick poll, a timed session, or just a lighter moment, it adds to the flow without getting in the way.
We’ll be expanding widgets over time with more tools. If you have suggestions, feel free to share them here or write to us at
