Add rows and columns to a table
Select the table to see the Quick Access Toolbar. Choose from the Add rows and Add columns options from wherever you are in the table to add rows and columns adjacent to the cells.
Delete the rows and columns in a table
Select the cells in the row or column you want to delete. Two delete icons will appear, one adjacent to the selected rows and another below the selected columns. Click the delete icon on the right to delete the selected rows, or click the delete icon on the bottom to delete the selected columns.
Table Format tools
Table Format provides more options to modify the table to fit your requirements. To open table Format options, select the table you want to modify and click More on the QAT.
Modify the header and footer of a table
In the table Format options, under Header & Footer, you can find the options to modify the header and footer of a table.
Apply colors to alternate rows or columns
In the table Format options, under Alternate, you can find the Row and Column options. Select rows to apply alternate colors to the rows, or choose columns to alternate the colors of the columns.
Remove gridlines for rows or columns
In the Table Format options, under Gridlines, you can find the options for Vertical Gridlines and Horizontal Gridlines. Select one or both, as needed.
The gridlines in the first and last rows and the first column of the table will not be altered by this option.
Distribute Rows or columns equally
In Table Format, under Cells, click either the Distribute Rows or Distribute Columns icon to distribute rows or columns equally.
Merging two or more cells
Select the cells you want to merge. In Table Format, under Cells, click the Merge cells button.
Split the merged cells
Select the cells you want to split. In Table Format, under Cells, click the Split cell button.
