Text in Vani helps you capture ideas, notes, and structured content directly inside your Space.
How to add text
There are multiple ways to insert text in your Space:
Click the Text icon from the left-hand toolbar. This opens a menu with multiple options for adding and styling text:
- Add text box – Inserts a standard text box in the Space
- Title – Adds a large heading-style text
- Heading - Adds medium-sized text for sub-sections.
- Normal text – Inserts paragraph-sized text
- Bullet list – Starts a bulleted list
- Numbered list – Adds a numbered list
- Checklist – Creates a checklist with clickable checkboxes
This method is ideal when you want to control the style or structure of the text as you insert it.
2. Double-clicking directly on the Space
To add text quickly, double-click anywhere in the canvas. A standard text box will be inserted at that spot.
3. Using the keyboard shortcut
Press T on your keyboard, then click or click and drag on the canvas to define the area where you'd like to insert the text. A text box will be created within the selected area, allowing you to start typing immediately.
How to format text
Once text has been added, you can refine its appearance to match the purpose of your content. Formatting helps emphasize important information, create hierarchy, and keep your Space visually consistent.
To edit text:
Select the text you want to modify
Click the Format tab in the right pane
Go to the Text section within the Format tab
Apply your preferred changes using the available tools
Available formatting options:
Font type – Choose from available typefaces
Font size – Adjust the size of your text
Text style – Apply Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Superscript, or Subscript
Text color – Change the font color to match your theme or highlight important points
Text alignment – Align your text left, center, right, or justify it
List style – Convert text to a bullet list, numbered list, or checklist. Each checklist item includes a checkbox that can be ticked to mark completion
Line spacing – Adjust the amount of space between lines of text.
Position – Control where text appears inside a shape (top, middle, or bottom).
Text indent – Increase or decrease indentation for structured layouts
These options give you full control over both the look and function of your text, whether you are keeping notes simple or designing structured documents within your Space.
Set as Default
Once you’ve customized the appearance of your text, such as font type, size, color, or alignment, you can click Set as default to apply the same styling to all new text boxes you create in the Space.
This helps maintain visual consistency and saves time when adding multiple text elements with the same look and feel.
